Egg-shaped vase with narrow mouth

Inventory number: DP 159

Around the body runs a frieze with eight stylised birds in an identical pose on a black ground. Foot and neck finished with a white stripe and a white band with crenellated edges.

Technique:

Slip-cast form. Decoration with matt black and white glazed surfaces (juxtaposed, covering the outlines, therefore pounced), delineating the brown contours (underlying stoneware). Inside glazed brown. Crackling in the white.
