Egg-shaped vase with raised mouth

Inventory number: St 117

This design is called "Geo" (short for "Geometric"). Around both the neck and the shoulder runs a frieze of concentric ovals in rectangular compartments. This frieze is interrupted by four groups of vertical yellow lines connecting neck to foot. Both are emphasised by a yellow stripe. At the shoulder, the outermost lines of each group widen into a band with a pattern of scales. The same scale shape is repeated, as a single motif, at the point where the line groups meet. From this point, a yellow line runs down, ending in a motif of two C's back to back, finished with blue.
